Fashionable Yemeni women with the means would never wear one that's out of style. Only tourists and the poor buy cheap veils at the market.

Most students spend between $100 - $200 a month. If you eat at local restaurants or cook your food at home, you might be able to get by with $100/month. If you have a cell phone, visit internet cafes frequently, eat at western restaurants once in a while, and perhaps take taxis every now and then, you may spend $150 - $200 / month.

Could you please add what it might cost for men's clothing items (a ghutra/kufiyeh, abaya (for men), the igal (if not with the Ghutra) and other miscellaneous items. What would the cost of a low-end souvenir jambiya be compared to a mid or high-end traditional one?

This list gives a good general idea of pricing, thanks.

Sorry I'm pretty ignorant about men's clothing so all prices are guesses only. The black and red checker-patterned ghutra or a'maama might be between $3 - $10. Yemeni men don't wear igals (the black rope like thingy to hold the a'maama in place) so you don't see them in stores here. In Sana'a, men wear white thaub, jacket,  and a nice shawl folded into a triangle and draped over the jacket. A jambia and a belt complete the outfit. In certain areas outside of Sana'a men also carry AK47's around everywhere they go.

I once bought a pretty nice souvenir jambia and belt for $50. Not sure if it was low-end or not.

Don't know since I don't smoke. Maybe someone else can answer the questions for you. One pack of Yemeni cigarettes is 130 YR.
