General rules
1) In the case where SIAL sponsors a student for a visa or residency permit, the student's passport should remain at the institute.
2) After one week of a term's starting date, it is not possible for students to change their program of study or to reduce the number of hours of study for that term. However, they are free to do so for any subsequent terms, and the corresponding tuition rates will apply.
3) If a student terminates his course of study early, he is entitled to a refund. However, the price of his hourly rate for hours studied will be subject to an increase because of the overall reduction of hours. As such, the student will receive a refund in accordance with the new hourly rate, which will be based on the actual number of hours studied, and not the original hourly rate, which was based on a larger number of hours.
4) Students are free to pursue any extra programs offered by SIAL during their free time, and can always increase their hours of study.
5) After a student completes his or her course of study at SIAL, the student visa or residency permit issued through SIAL will expire. Students may wish to remain in Yemen beyond their studies at SIAL for travel and sightseeing, and in such cases, an appropriate period can be arranged for this purpose.
6) In the case where a student terminates his or her study at SIAL prior to completion of the course, the student visa or residency permit issued through SIAL will be cancelled immediately and they will have 2 weeks to leave Yemen or to find another sponsor.
7) The student must pay a 50$ deposit on his room upon arriving. If, upon his departure, it is determined that there is no damage to the furniture in his room, the deposit will be returned.
Class Policy
1) The standard group program is 4 hours a day, 5 days a week.
2) Classes are held during the Yemeni workweek, from Saturday to Wednesday. Thursdays and Fridays are days off.
3) In the case where a student's level does not allow him or her to enter into one of the current group classes, he or she will be given private lessons for two hours a day instead of four, until he or she is able to enter into a group.
4) Students do not loose any classroom hours because of national holidays. If a holiday falls on one or more study days, the classes will be made up during the course.
5) The class is broken up into two sessions, each 2 hours in length. There is a 10-minute break in the middle of each session, and a 30-minute break between the two sessions.
6) If a student misses a class, he or she will be considered absent from the class and will not be entitled to a refund of tuition.
