All students planning to study at SIAL will require a Yemeni entry visa. Students planning to study for longer than three months will also require a residence permit. The details of both are explained below.
All students are required to apply for entry visa through SIAL. This is done in order to streamline the application. Prospective students are required to read and understand SIAL’s Policy. Students are required to include a copy of passport with their application and pay the $100 visa fee along with the housing and program tuition. This entry visa is valid for one month. It can be renewed twice, each time for a period of one month. Each Renewal costs about 5000 riyals, or approximately $26. This visa is valid for one entry. If you leave Yemen, you will have to apply for another entry visa. Once in Yemen, students should apply for the extension of their entry visa at least one week before the expiry date of their entry visa
A copy of visa will be sent to you by fax or email when ready, to be brought with you to Yemen. Your original visa will be brought to the Immigration Officer at the airport by a staff member. He will also assist you with transportation to the Institute.
SIAL only provides visa to students who participate in a program at our Institute. All the family members of students who require visa must enroll in one of the programs at SIAL in order to obtain visa.
Long Term Residence Permits
A residence permit is necessary for students who wish to study at our Institute for longer than three months. SIAL will assist its students with long-term residence permits for the period of their study at the institute. This can be done once the student arrives in Yemen.
The fee for obtaining a residence permit is $60.00. Students are required to furnish 4 passport size photos and submit an AIDS test in Yemen. Residence permits are given to our students based on the guarantee and sponsorship of our institute. Applying for residence permits and permit extensions cannot take place unless all tuition fees for the entire course is paid.
With long-term residence permits, students can exit Yemen to go to another country and come back without having to get new entry visas, but they will have to apply for exit / re-entry visas. SIAL will assist its students in getting this done.
If a student terminates his or her course after getting a residence permit, the residence permit will be cancelled immediately and he or she will be given an exit visa to leave Yemen within two weeks. If he or she does not leave Yemen within this period of time, he or she will be considered to be staying in Yemen illegally and will be subject to deportation and any other actions by the government at any time.
The government requires that students’ passport should be kept at the institute for security purposes. If a student needs his or her passport for any reason, he or she can take it and then bring it back to the institute on the second day. SIAL will give each student a student an ID card, as well as a letter from the school that indicates his or her status in Yemen and copies of the necessary passport pages.
A copy of visa will be sent to you by fax or email when ready, to be brought with you to Yemen. Your original visa will be brought to the Immigration Officer at the airport by a staff member. He will also assist you with transportation to the Institute.
